SUMMARY:What Clevelanders Need Right Now: Mining 2-1-1 and 3-1-1 Data
DESCRIPTION:Everyday hundreds of people in Cuyahoga County call 2-1-1 for help with everything from finding shelter to clothing\, transportation\, and other needs. And hundreds of Clevelanders call 3-1-1 with requests for city services\; everything from waste pick-up\, to tree service requests and complaints about vacant properties.\n\nThe leaders of these call centers will walk us through what the data can tell us about Clevelanders' needs right now. They'll walk through any emerging trends and changes they see as changes in human services supports roll out\, and how you can access and interpret the data.

SUMMARY:Lightning Session 1: Tracking Equity in Ohio’s Philanthropy: Who’s Getting Funded
DESCRIPTION:Hundreds of millions of dollars flow into Ohio’s nonprofit sector every year\, but who is receiving the funding\, and is it being distributed equitably? Let's use Candid data to map where those dollars go\, who receives them\, and what trends are shaping the landscape. We’ll explore funding by sector\, recipient demographics\, and geography\, comparing Ohio to national benchmarks. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how to assess equity in funding and practical tools to use data.

SUMMARY:FAIR2 Data Chats: A Participatory Research Tools to Advance Public Interest Technology in Data Analytics
DESCRIPTION:This session introduces FAIR2 Data Chats as a community-participatory research tool to advance Public Interest Technology in data science. The FAIR2 framework expands on the established FAIR data principles by embedding historical and community knowledge throughout the data analytic process to address discrimination bias. We illustrate the use of FAIR2 Data Chats in two applications of integrated data analytics in the area of homelessness.

SUMMARY:How public sector data can better support immigrant and multilingual communities
DESCRIPTION:Public data systems affect all of us every day\, including immigrants. What happens when the data doesn't speak your language? Greater Cleveland is home to dozens of immigrant communities and hundreds of thousands of people who speak languages other than English at home\, according to Census estimates. Are data geeks serving them? Panelists from local multilingual publications and organizations that serve immigrant communities will talk about problems their communities have accessing and interacting with data\; how data systems could work better for them\; and what solutions are working.

DESCRIPTION:Most people think hospitals already share data—but they often don’t. We brought together records from every trauma center and the coroner’s office to uncover repeat gun injuries that would have gone unseen. This talk shows how cross-system collaboration can reveal who’s at greatest risk\, give communities a clearer picture of violence\, and help civic data work for prevention—not just reporting.

SUMMARY:10\,000 Futures for Cleveland's Vacant Land
DESCRIPTION:How much of Cleveland's vacant land is needed for new housing? This session demos an interactive Monte Carlo simulation that models 10\,000 futures for any neighborhood. Participants will use an AI-created web app to input population growth scenarios and see the acreage required. The results challenge common narratives by showing a likely land surplus even with optimistic growth\, sparking new conversations about how we manage this community asset. This session will also demonstrate how to use free AI tools to create simple web apps for more powerful storytelling experiences with publicly available data.
